A Message From... 
Mrs. Glassmeyer

As a graduate of Xavier University, I am certified to teach first grade through eighth grade. I currently teach fifth grade Social Studies and Language Arts. I earned my Master of Arts in Education degree with a concentration in Multicultural Literature from Xavier University. My husband, Ken, and I have two children: John, who just turned three in August, and George, who was born in April.  The 2011-2012 school year will be my eleventh year of teaching and I'm very excited to be here at St. Vivian School!

 
ANNOUNCEMENTS

This week is Catholic Schools' Week! Sunday is our Open House from 12:00-2:00.  Monday is Wacky Tacky Day! Bring in dried pasta food products (spaghetti, mac & cheese, egg noodles, etc). The grade with the most products/student wins a pizza party Thursday!!!

We are now studying adjectives in grammar. The test will be Wednesday. We are continuing our study of colonies in Social Studies. The test will be Thursday. We are continuing a unit on the Civil Rights Movement in Reading by reading the novel "The Watsons Go to Birmingham- 1963".  We wrote individual articles in the newspaper style. Come and see them on display! 

SPELLING LIST: Next week we will begin a brief unit on Economics in Social Studies. To prepare, we will be spelling words about economics this week.

Monday: Spelling: write words 3 times each in cursive, Grammar: SSWB 69 and study for your test on Wednesday, Reading: Journal: How is Kenny changing around Byron?, SS: Complete the study guide and begin studying for test Thursday

TuesdaySpelling: write words in alphabetical order, Grammar: study for test and do SSWB 70, Reading: Journal- Predict what Grandma Sands will do to Byron., SS: Study for test Thursday

Wednesday: Spelling: fill in worksheet, Grammar: SSWB 71 AND 72! Quiz tomorrow, SS: study for ch 4 test!

Thursday: Spelling: Study for test, Reading: Journal- How has Byron changed since arriving in Alabama?, SS: Read and do p. 160-161. Tomorrow is game day: Bring a game to play with friends.
